This time of year always brings our focus to HARVEST! In our area, we see mainly the
harvest of corn and beans crops. Psalm 67: 5-7 reminds us to give God praise and
thanksgiving for His abundant blessings. This helps point other people to Him: “May the
peoples praise you, God; may all the peoples praise you. The land yields its harvest; God,
our God, blesses us. May God bless us still, so that all the ends of the earth will fear Him.”
But the Bible also has much to say about spiritual harvests:
Matthew 9: 36-38…” When he (Jesus) saw the crowds, he had compassion on them,
because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to
His disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest,
therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.’”
James 3: 18…”Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.”
2 Corinthians 9: 10…”Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also
supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.”
Galatians 6: 9…”Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap
a harvest if we do not give up.”
What praise and thanksgiving it brings to be a part of seeing more and more people choose
righteousness…to see more and more people choose to live in the right relationship with
Jesus! This is the best and most important harvest of all!
Brothers and Sisters, we have work to do; and God promises to supply all we need to do it.
Let’s stay busy producing a great harvest for His Kingdom!
