…Beautiful Savior, Glorious Lord…
…Immanuel, God is with us…
…Blessed Redeemer, Living Word!”
This song I learned many years ago reminds us of just a few of the names that
rightfully belong to Jesus alone. My Bible index lists over 100 names for Jesus,
and the depth of meaning behind these names is astounding! No wonder the
Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Philippi: “Therefore God exalted him to the
highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name
of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and
every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the
Father.” -Philippians 2: 9-11 (NIV)
In August I will be preaching a series meant to help us grow in our understanding
of, as well as our respect, reverence and gratitude for some of Jesus’ names.
Please join me in prayer that our journey will lead us to love and honor Jesus and
His Holy Name more and more.
