It is very difficult to pin down in only one Bible verse the importance of prayer, but
1 Thessalonians 5: 17 says, “…pray continually.” And Romans 12: 12 says, “Be joyful in
hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
It is very difficult to pin down only one Bible verse that captures the power of prayer,
but James 5: 16b says, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
About 3 ½ years ago, God compelled me to start praying every day the prayer Jesus
taught his disciples. In Matthew 6: 9-13… Jesus said,” This, then, is how you should pray:
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive our debts, as we
also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”
As time passed, I was inspired to separate this prayer into six segments and add more
Scriptures under each segment. What resulted is a “Prayer Army” tool that puts prayer,
the WORD and the name of Jesus together to guide my daily time with God and
influence my world for Christ’s kingdom and God’s glory!
I cover myself with a “prayer shawl” as I pray to help me focus on the fact that, through
prayer, I’m covering myself and others with the very presence of Jesus and ALL that HE
IS! I’m experiencing real answers to prayers big and small!
Beginning May 11th, I will be preaching a six-week series on each of the six segments of
the Lord’s Prayer. The prayer tool and shawl will be available to anyone inspired to join
the “prayer army” God is building at Enon.
Ever Growing in Prayer,
