February CrossRoads Newsletter

“…since the day I’ve heard about you, I have not stopped praying for you. I continually
ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and
understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and
please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of
God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may
have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has
qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.”
-Colossians 1: 9-12
I’ve been on five specific mission trips in the past 25 years: three to the General Baptist
Faith Home Orphanage in Honduras; one to Juarez, Mexico; and one to McDowell
County, West Virginia. From the first through the last, a common theme emerged that I
could describe with a little motto: “Grow & Go- Go & Grow”. As I’ve grown in my
relationship with Jesus and maturity as His disciple, I’ve been compelled to go out with
the Gospel- the Good News of Christ! And as I’ve participated in missions to share
Jesus, I’ve certainly grown in my relationship with Him and becoming a more mature
Christian.
In light of this, it makes perfect sense that being part of a specific mission is part of our
Growth Track in Discipleship at Enon. We all need to “Grow & Go” so that when we go,
we can count on growing!
Pastor David Kelle has developed a weekly prayer list so that those of us not physically
going can join the mission in an important and powerful way. This list has been placed
on our email prayer chain, and is posted on the church information board. May the rest
of us not fail in our mission to faithfully pray for those actually going!
