Philippians 3:14,15 “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward
call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore let us, as many as are MATURE,
have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal
even this to you.”

The Biblical definition of the word “mature” is complete, finished,
perfect. Can a person actually ever become a “mature” Christian on this
side of heaven? The answer is YES! We will never be fully, 100%
completed or perfect in EVERY sense of these words or in EVERY way
while we live in this world. But we can live in a state of God completing
us to fulfill what He’s designed and called us to be here. We can gain
maturity by putting away childish things (1 Corinthians 13:11), by
following the example of Christ (Ephesians 4:13,15), by pursuing the
deeper truths of the Gospel (Hebrews 5:14) and by overcoming
temptation (1 John 2:14). We can mature to fruitfulness for Christ’s
kingdom and God’s glory.
I’ll be preaching a series in October called the “Marks of Christian
Maturity.” Being a mature Christian is not a point of arrival with no
growth potential left. It’s coming to a place in our journey with Jesus
where we’re consistently growing to look and act more like HIM!
Praying we may all grow up in all things into Him who is the Head of the
Body…Christ! (Ephesians 4:15)
