Philippians 2: 1-4 “If you have any encouragement from being united in Christ, if any
comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,
then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in
spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility
consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own
interests, but also to the interests of others.”
Disagreements in our church and relationships are a given. People have different ideas,
opinions, and thoughts. While there are beliefs that are wrong, disagreeing doesn’t
always mean one is right and the other is wrong. It means the ideas, opinions and
thoughts are different. It’s been said many times that God created diversity, but never
approves of it dividing us. Letting disagreements become a source of ugly disputes,
dissension, quarrels and strife is disobedience to God and hurtful to one another. In the
September Preaching Series, we’re going to examine some Biblical ways to handle our
disagreements. The title of the series is: “Fighting Fair in God’s Family.” Each week
we’ll consider some particular elements to have a ‘fair fight’…
…September 1- Conflict; Acts 15
…September 8- Commitment; 1 Corinthians 1: 10-17
…September 15- Communication; James 1: 19-26
…September 22- Compromise; James 2: 1-4
I pray each of you will be praying and studying; then will choose NOT to miss even one
of these messages.
