“Build The Church!” Over and over Enon’s vision statement is being emphasized. It might be
easy to think we’re overdoing it a bit. But we would be wiser to consider, “Are we emphasizing
the vision enough?” The Apostle Paul spoke and wrote about building up the church, building
up each other and even building up ourselves in Christ over and over in his letters to the
churches he loved and cared about so much:
1 Corinthians 14: 12 “Since you are eager for gifts of the Spirit, try to excel in those that build
up the church.”
Ephesians 4: 11, 12 “So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the
pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be
built up…”
Romans 15: 2 “Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.”
2 Corinthians 13: 10 “This is why I write these things when I am absent, that when I come I
may not have to be harsh in my use of authority—the authority the Lord gave me for building
you up, not for tearing you down.”
Ephesians 4: 29 “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is
helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”
1 Thessalonians 5: 11 “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in
fact you are doing.”
Acts 20: 32 “Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and
give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.”
Colossians 2: 6,7 “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives
in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in faith as you were taught, and overflowing
with thankfulness.”
And Jude : 20, 21 says, “But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith
and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our
Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.”
May God’s Word inspire us to never get tired of being encouraged and motivated to Build
Christ’s Church!
