Ecclesiastes 3: 1 “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity
under heaven…”
1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18 “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all
circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
This time of year always reminds us of the change of seasons in nature. There are
changes in seasons in the lives of families and churches too. I believe Enon is
experiencing a change of seasons. With the many things going on in their lives,
several members of our Deacon Board have decided to move to honorary status
in this particular ministry. Carol Blaine, John Boyd, Roger Lashbrook, and Travis
Lashbrook have not stopped, and do not plan to stop, serving Jesus at Enon. They
are all still active servants in the church. What they are doing is changing their
status as Deacons from active to honorary.
This time of year also reminds us of all the things we have to be thankful for. We
are so thankful for all the years and ways Roger, Carol, John and Travis have
served as Deacons. We are thankful for all the ways they will continue to serve
Christ in our church family. We will have a time in November to appreciate,
honor, recognize and thank these brothers and sister in Christ for their work in
the Deacon ministry.
Finally, at this time when we’re being mindful of, and thankful in, change; we’re
thankful to be praying about the development of an Elders’ Board made of people
the church supports as trained leaders in the various ministry teams we have.
This will be a process that takes faithful prayer, commitment and time. But I
believe God has a good plan to grow us to become more and more effective in
building Christ’s kingdom for God’s glory!
Humbly thanking Jesus for you all and through it all!
