Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
2 Corinthians 9:6
The harvest was considered one of the most important times of the year throughout biblical history. The
scriptures talk in abundance about reaping and sowing, the discipline needed to produce a harvest, and
the celebration that is due whenever an abundant harvest is brought in. The Bible makes many
references about the literal bringing in of physical crops as we are encouraged to consider the work,
sacrifice, and the joy all bundled up in the ability to bring about a fruitful harvest.
Jesus taught many spiritual truths and lessons in reference to the agricultural work of the people. In His
lessons and parables, he taught that the spiritual work of the church is much like the growing of crops.
We may not be coming together to make sure the beans and corn grow and mature, but the purpose of
our being united in the same Body of Christ is tailored toward us coming together and growing a harvest
of righteousness in our own lives and in the lives of others. All for God’s glory!
My prayer is that we will be diligent and intentional about sowing generously into our relationship with
Jesus; that all of us will be growing spiritual fruit to be offered up to the Lord for His good purpose and
pleasure. My prayer is that we will also be just as diligent and intentional about sowing generously into
the lives of those around us; that we may also be part of growing godly fruit in the lives of others.
Just as farm work is considered tough, this work of producing a harvest of righteousness is not for the
faint of heart. We rely on the Holy Spirit to lead us and strengthen us as we move forward with the
work, the discipline, and the perseverance it takes to grow in maturity and help others do the same. We
do this knowing that the harvest of righteousness God is bringing about in us and through us is
something that we truly can be overjoyed about. We look forward to it. We celebrate it. And we praise
God for it with hearts full of thanksgiving.
ALSO … I look forward to our Harvest Offering that we will be taking up in October. Baskets will be
placed in the sanctuary so anyone can respond to God’s generosity by contributing their own gift
towards God’s mission and ministry. We are asking that everyone prayerfully consider what gift God
would have you offer for the building up of His kingdom.

- The forming of a community outreach ministry at Enon. Praise God we have a team working on this
now! - The support of a new mission family preparing to go to the Philippines. (More details to come about
Mat and Victoria Murphy, with their 2 young children, answering God’s call to go on mission for
Jesus).
I love you all,
Pastor David
